Tribute to Steve Irwin ~ Crocodile Hunter/Animal Lover
Driving home from a weekend writing retreat, I heard the sad news of Steve Irwin's death off the coast of Australia. At first I thought I heard the report wrong, thinking it couldn't be that Steve Irwin, The crocodile Hunter. But it was, and I was stunned in my car and terribly saddened.
My husband, daughter and I loved his show, loved his antics, and appreciated his and Terri's love for animals. I remember having to buy one of his croc T-shirts, which I still wear, at the Animal Planet store at our local airport just to leaving on vacation.
His death was horrific. Mercifully, was apparently quick, and it happened while he was doing something he truly loved, and not a result of a lingering illness. My prayers and thoughts are with Terri, and his precious children, Bindi and little Bob. I’m sure they are heartbroken by their loss of him. He was truly larger than life and a phenomenal person. With such a big heart he touched the hearts and lives of so many people. He will be missed by millions around the world.
God bless and keep you Steve. You were a wonder and a joy to watch, and an inspiration to our little household and well as to millions of viewers, and to those who knew you. You will be missed.
